Workshops
Our workshops strive to support people presently or formerly involved in the sex industry to engage in media, storytelling, and public debate about issues that affect them. In 2009 we ran our first day-long Speak Up! Media Training workshop, and since then more than 40 people have taken the intensive training, and we’ve offered modified versions of the workshop to groups in cities like San Francisco, Toronto, and London. Since 2010 we have been offering a two-hour training on how to do legislative advocacy in New York; in 2012 we are expanding this to be a full-day workshop.
Workshops in 2012
In the winter and spring of 2012 we are collaborating with several New York-based organizations to offer our Legislative Advocacy trainings for community members who are interested in doing advocacy around the No Condoms As Evidence legislation as well as Stop and Frisk policies. We will offer two trainings.
Though we usually do our weekend-long Speak Up! training in New York in April, in 2012 we will be offering a half-day training in Washington, DC prior to the International AIDS Conference, and then a full weekend-long training in the fall of 2012.
We’ve got other workshops up our sleeves, too. Join our mailing list to get more information about future trainings!
